Embrace Massager
Industrial Design
Time Period: 4 months
2012
The purpose of this project was to find a product in the healthcare product category that needed to be improved upon. Research showed that home health care products such as massagers were important devices for keeping patients independent in their own homes.
Many massagers on the market are not effective as they have only weak vibrations, are too large to be convenient, or are handheld and too difficult to use comfortably. Embrace acts as a wearable massager for the back, that can also be adapted to fit a variety of other use positions. The model was a sewn soft good, with several FDM printed details (such as the thumb grips).
The remote was modelled using Rhino and Solidworks, and then cleated using thermoplastics and foam sculpting.
