My role at Corel is best described as a UX Generalist. I led the design direction of many different projects as a UX designer and product owner from start to end of a project cycle. I contributed design work to existing projects at various stages of the cycle. I’ve created surveys and interacted with users in Betas for UX research. I curated content from artists for use in Corel’s public online galleries, marketing materials, and in-app messaging. I create design guidelines for asset production and managed contractors while they create content. I’ve created content for Corel including tutorials & user guides, marketing materials, and templates.

The appearance and interaction with nodes and handles on curves were improved in 2017. These improvements were implemented and carefully planned for every tool in CorelDRAW and Corel PHOTO-PAINT.

Projects

While working at Corel, I’ve worked on many product releases, including multiple versions of CorelDRAW Graphics Suite, and Corel Painter.

Here are a few highlights:

CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X8

  • Completed a full assessment of the onboarding experience for new users and made recommendations for future developments

  • Refined the in-app messaging to improve clarity of the experience

  • Streamlined the installation, account creation, and upgrade experience

  • Created a new way for users to learn how to use the product tools through tutorial Tours


CorelDRAW Graphics Suite 2017

  • Designed an updated curve editing and node interaction for every tool and transient in the suite

  • Worked with the ecommerce team to design in product purchasing experiences

  • Designed the Impact tool, which was made available as a plugin in earlier versions and integrated as a full tool in 2018

  • Designed the symmetry drawing mode for CorelDRAW

  • Designed a new workflow allowing users to use the Align and Distribute docker with individual nodes on a curve, where it had previously been limited to objects only


CorelDRAW Graphics Suite 2019 + CorelDRAW Graphics Suite for Mac

  • Worked with a team to assess problems with pixel precision in web design workflows and introduced enhancements to ensure better pixel precision and more clarity when exporting images

  • Created a new workflow for user onboarding; Created tutorials for new users and artwork for advanced users

  • Supervised contractors and managed the creation of templates for use in the enhanced “New from Template…” workflow

  • Redesigned the Welcome experience for the Mac user.

Painter 2017

  • Created a new template for the reviewers guide (Check it out here)

  • Created artwork for use in the reviewer’s guide, help documentation and user tutorials

  • Curated user artwork for use in marketing materials and in-app galleries

Painter 2019

  • Updated the icon style guide and worked with a contracted to create a full set of new icons for an updated UI

Painter 2020

  • Created design guidelines and supervised the implementation of the Brush Accelerator report
